Alice E. Bell has extensive experience in insurance defense litigation and civil appeals. Ms. Bell began as a paralegal, working in the defense of health care professionals in malpractice litigation and administrative disciplinary actions. She then spent eight years at the house counsel office for Farmers Insurance in Michigan, first as a paralegal and then an associate, defending first- and third-party no-fault claims, premises liability, and insurance coverage matters at the trial court and appellate levels. In 2011, she joined a Plaintiff’s firm, representing numerous Michigan hospital and health system clients, pursuing and litigating insurance eligibility determinations, focusing on no-fault medical provider litigation. In 2020, she joined a prominent Michigan defense firm, specializing in first-party no-fault litigation and the defense of the Michigan Automobile Insurance Placement Facility (MAIPF) and Michigan Assigned Claims Plan (MACP) servicing insurers. She specializes in substantive research, writing, and appeals, and regularly appears for oral arguments in Michigan Circuit Courts and the Court of Appeals. She joined NMDB in 2024 as a member of the appellate department.
