About Allen

Allen S. Gehring Jr. graduated with Academic Honors, Cum Laude, from the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. While at Georgetown, Allen worked in the United States Congress in the House of Representatives on the Committee on Education and the Workforce, which oversees the nation’s education and employment laws, and he also worked in the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice. During 2018 - 2019, Allen served as a Staff Member on Georgetown’s American Criminal Law Review. Prior to his legal career, Allen spent five years working as a full-time professor at Brescia University in Owensboro, Kentucky. While at Brescia, Allen won a number of awards for being an outstanding professor such as Brescia’s Presidential Award for Teaching Innovation. Allen also assisted in developing and leading Brescia’s Honors College Program. While in Kentucky, given his academic background in Bioethics, Allen was appointed to serve as an Ethicist on the Ethics Committee at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Besides working as a professor at Brescia, Allen has also taught at numerous colleges and universities throughout the United States which include Indiana University, Bloomington; Ball State University; Texas A&M University; and the Reading Area Community College. Allen still continues to teach part-time for Saint Leo University, one of the nation’s largest Catholic universities serving over 13,000 students, where he regularly teaches classes in Ethics and the Philosophy of Religion. A personal highlight from Allen’s career as a professor involves touring the White House with the students in one of his Honors College classes. Allen is a native of Berks County and a graduate of Reading High School, where, throughout each year of his four years at Reading High, he was awarded the Superintendent’s Scholastic Achievement Award for being one of the top ten students in his class. Allen’s legal interests are wide ranging and include higher education law, labor and employment law, and litigation.
