About Bill
Bill Weinacht, born John William Hammond, Jr., is a seasoned attorney based in Pecos, Texas. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Texas in 1986 and his law degree from Baylor Law School in 1989. After starting his own firm, he gained extensive trial experience in both criminal defense and plaintiff-side personal injury cases. Notably, he served as Reeves County Attorney at the age of 28. His significant achievements include securing a $1.9 million settlement against the U.S. federal government for wrongful death, a $19 million wrongful death settlement (Texas's largest in 2016), and a $146 million jury verdict for Mesa Petroleum. He was inducted into the Texas Verdicts Hall of Fame in 2019. Weinacht is licensed in Texas and New Mexico, and has been admitted to practice in numerous federal courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
