About BRAD
After retiring as a Chief Petty Officer from the United States Navy, Brad Johnson pursued his childhood dream of becoming a lawyer. With 24 years of dedicated service as a Hospital Corpsman, he embarked on a new journey and enrolled in evening classes at SMU's Dedman School of Law. In 2008, he successfully graduated, focusing his studies on family law, which had always captivated his interest. During his time in law school, Brad's passion for family law shone through as he became the President of the Student Family Law Association and served as a liaison to the Dallas Bar Association's Family Law Section. Alongside his partner, he triumphed in the Jackson Walker Moot Court competition during his first year and reached the regional finals of the Client Counseling competition in his third year. Since becoming licensed, Brad has devoted his practice primarily to family law. Whether working as a solo practitioner, in an of-counsel role with local attorneys, or as an associate at a law firm, he understands that clients seeking assistance in family law matters often face significant emotional and psychological stress. Brad sees his role as a facilitator, striving to make a challenging period in his clients' lives as smooth and uncomplicated as possible. However, he also recognizes that cooperation may not always be feasible, and in those situations, he stands resolutely prepared to advocate for his clients' interests in the courtroom. Brad's commitment to the community is unwavering. He actively serves as a Vice-Chair on the Dallas Bar Association's High School Mock Trial Committee, where he collaborates on writing the case used statewide and helps organize local, regional, and state tournaments. Additionally, he plays a vital role on the Dallas Bar Home Project Committee, contributing to the annual funding and construction of a Habitat for Humanity house. For the past decade, Brad has dedicated his time to the North West Legal Aid of Texas intake clinic in Garland, where he has been recognized as the Outstanding Volunteer in 2012 and 2017.
