About Carter

Principal and founding attorney Carter Zinn was born and raised in Berkeley, California. He obtained a B.A. in Political Economy from Williams College in 1988 and completed his J.D. at University of California Berkeley’s School of Law (Boalt Hall) in 1999 after starting at Harvard Law School. He began his legal career at Heller Ehrman LLP and later joined Levy Ram & Olson, gaining trial experience. In 2003, he founded The Zinn Law Firm, focusing on representing seriously injured individuals. He has been recognized as a 'Top three young trial lawyer in San Francisco' (2005), a 'Rising Star in Northern California' (2009), and a 'Super Lawyer' since 2010. Carter has served on the Board of Governors for the Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC) and is a member of the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association (SFTLA) and the American Association for Justice. He lectures on legal topics and is an adjunct faculty member at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, teaching Medical Malpractice Litigation. He also served as Chairman of the City of Mill Valley Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission since 2013.
