Charles J. DeHart, III, 77, of Hershey, passed away on January 14, 2024 at home, surrounded by his family. He was born March 18, 1946 in Harrisburg, son of the late Charles Jr. and M. Jane (Bomgardner) DeHart. Chuck joined the law firm of Caldwell & Kearns PC in 1972 (but has since retired), and was the Standing Chapter 13 Trustee in Bankruptcy for the United States Middle District Court of Pennsylvania from October 1987 to April 2021. A Member of the Dauphin County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations, Chuck received his BA from Lebanon Valley College in 1968, his law degree from Dickinson School of Law in 1972, and a Master's Degree in Taxation from Temple School of Law in 1978. Chuck taught classes in Chapter 13 Bankruptcy for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. Among Chuck's many community activities he was active in the Paxtang Area Jaycees, Fulton Bank Advisory Board, Church Counsel and Member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hummelstown, Member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hershey and represented the Borough of Hummelstown as Borough Counsel. Chuck also served as Corporate Counsel to Keystone Human Services from 1974 to 2016 and was the recipient of the Joseph A. Adlestein Professional Leadership Award in 2015. Chuck is survived by his wife, Madeleine DeHart; daughter Tracy and husband Stan Sullivan; son Chad and wife Vanessa DeHart; son Jason and wife Jessica DeHart; grandchildren Ryan, Andrew and Nicholas Sullivan, Alyssa, Claire, Ellie and Chase DeHart; step-daughter Danielle and husband Tim Malloy; step-son, James and wife Emily Giddings-Ott; step-grandchildren Sarah Lane, Sebastian Sierra and Maximilian Giddings. Chuck was preceded in death by his first wife Elaine DeHart.
