About Charles

Charles J. Sticklen, Jr. was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and moved with his family to Miami, FL, when he was a child. He attended the University of Florida, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 1988. After graduating from the University of Florida, he returned to Missouri to attend the School of Law at the University of Missouri. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Mizzou Law in 1991, and then moved to Joplin to begin his career as an associate attorney at a local law firm. In 1997, Charlie opened his own law firm in Joplin. His law practice is focused solely on Personal Injury Law, and he has extensive experience litigating, trying, mediating, arbitrating, and settling thousands of Personal Injury cases. Throughout his career Charlie has practiced exclusively in the various types of personal injury law, successfully advocating on behalf of injured individuals and/or survivors. He has represented clients whose injuries range from minor to catastrophic, or even wrongful death. Charlie has never represented an insurance company or corporation. In 2018, Sticklen & Sticklen, Injury Attorneys, expanded their practice to include Columbia, MO. In 2019, Charlie’s daughter, Sarah Sticklen-McDonnell, joined her father’s law firm and is now the managing partner of the Columbia Office of Sticklen & Sticklen. Together, the father-daughter team continue to work to help injured individuals in both the Joplin and Columbia areas. Charlie’s four children were raised in Joplin, MO, which Charlie and his wife have called “home” since 1991. They have two daughters and two sons. Both daughters are attorneys, their oldest son is a morning anchor for the CBS affiliate in Bismarck, ND, and their youngest son is pursuing his law degree at the University of Missouri School of Law.
