Steve Schwinn has more than 30 years working as a trial attorney with the firm. He was been a Partner from 1988 to 2025. He maintains a close and ongoing relationship with the firm, providing valuable insight and counsel to attorneys and clients. His substantial litigation experience includes defending multi-million dollar claims involving products liability, retail security, construction accidents and property damage. He was lead defense counsel in cases featured on 60 Minutes and The Justice Files. He serves as catastrophic claims counsel for clients in the District of Columbia and Maryland. He has also worked as consulting counsel on burn claims, and as regional coverage counsel for environmental insurance coverage litigation. He has tried cases involving construction contractors, crane operators and trucking companies, a propane gas distributor, security contractors, retailers and entertainment venues, professional sports teams, athletes, contractors, hospitals and hotels. He has held leadership positions in national insurance claims industry organizations, including Lead Chair of the District of Columbia Chapter of the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance. Before joining the Firm in 1983, Steve served as Law Clerk to Hon. William E. Stewart, Jr. and Hon. John R. Hess, Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
