About Eric

Eric Perkins was born in Colorado, but moved to Texas at a young age and was raised by his parents in Harlingen. He graduated from the University of Texas Pan American with a bachelor’s degree in political science earned his law degree from St. Mary’s University in 1989. After graduating, he moved to Corpus Christi with his wife and has called it home ever since. Practicing first with the firm of Bonilla & Berlanga, Eric then became a prosecutor in the Nueces County Attorney’s Office. Within a year, he was promoted to Criminal Section Chief. In 1992, he started his own law firm with a focusing on criminal defense. Over the course of the past thirty years, Eric has successfully defended thousands of cases and attained a reputation for being a fearless and effective advocate in the courtroom. He is also but a handful of select attorneys that are certified to try death penalty cases and can proudly boast he has prevented the death penalty for every one of his clients facing it. While focusing primarily on criminal law and preferring to spend most of his time in court, Eric has also practiced in nearly every other conceivable area of law with similar results. Both in State and Federal Court, he continues to obtain favorable rulings and verdicts for his clients. Eric is well respected within the legal community, is a member of numerous legal organizations, and has served as the former president of the Nueces County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. On his free time, he frequently assists and mentors other attorneys, as well as speaks on various legal topics at seminars. Eric and his wife Sheree have been happily married for thirty-five years and they have three sons. In December 2019, Eric and his oldest son, Jared Perkins, formed Perkins & Perkins, Trial Lawyers. Based out of Corpus Christi, Texas, their practice focuses on representing clients in personal injury and wrongful death cases, and defending those that have been wrongfully accused.
