A natural consensus builder, Jim’s skills at resolving tangled legal and business issues and reputation for developing workable solutions to intractable problems have earned him the designation of Super Lawyer™ and the highest possible Martindale-Hubbell™ rating from his peers, that of AV™, or very high to preeminent, legal skills. Drawing on forty years of experience in real estate law, business transactions and commercial litigation, Jim is able to resolve issues ranging from the fine tuning of internal governance documents and real estate transactions to significant corporate and real estate transactions. When local businesses need to make “it” work, they look to Jim to devise a plan and put the plan into action. When the unexpected happens with business control or commercial real estate, Jim figures out the solution. Outside of the law firm, Jim maintains active involvement in the community. From 1990-2000, Jim was an Adjunct Professor, teaching Real Estate Law at Northern Virginia Community College. He has presented seminars in business ethics and legal ethics. Jim has served as corporate or local counsel to several non-profit groups providing assisted living for the physically and mentally disabled and has served as general counsel to national religious organizations.
