About James

James (“Jim”) Hoy is a shareholder at Maring Williams Law Office licensed in North Dakota and Minnesota. He has served in numerous capacities in various legal and community organizations, including as an executive board member and a past president of the North Dakota Association for Justice, as a past chairperson of North Dakota’s Pattern Jury Instruction Commission, as the current chairperson of the North Dakota Federal Practice Committee, as a past vice-president of his church’s council, as a founder and the current president of his church’s foundation, and as the current president of Kindred Hoops, a youth basketball organization. He also coaches youth sports and serves as an assistant coach for the Kindred boys’ basketball team, earning a Community Service Award in 2021 and induction into the West Fargo High School Hall of Fame in 2025.
