About Jared

Jared Smallwood earned his undergraduate degree from Shepherd University before attending the University of Baltimore School of Law, where he developed a strong interest in civil litigation and advocacy. He began his legal career with Briel PC, Attorneys, focusing on real estate law and construction disputes. Jared worked with clients ranging from property developers to homeowners, addressing issues like contract disputes, zoning challenges, and construction defects. Jared later transitioned to public service as a prosecutor for Berkeley County, West Virginia. He handled cases involving juvenile abuse and neglect, working to protect vulnerable children and ensure their safety. His work required navigating emotional and legally complex situations and collaborating with social workers, law enforcement, and family courts to achieve the best outcomes. Outside of work, Jared enjoys golf and spending quality time with his family. We are pleased to have this compassionate and experienced lawyer as part of the Skinner team.
