Standen is a sought-after speaker at numerous scholarly symposia and legal education panels, recognized for his insightful contributions. Throughout his career, Standen has received accolades for both teaching excellence and scholarly achievements. Previously, he served as an Associate attorney at Hunton Andrews Kurth (formerly Hunton & Williams), where his litigation practice revolved around complex multi-state RICO and securities suits, products liability, and general business litigation. He also held the position of Deputy General Counsel at the U.S. Sentencing Commission and clerked for a federal judge at the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
