He was admitted to practice in Idaho in 1982, Wyoming in 1992, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in 1985. He is a member of the Idaho State Bar Association (including Litigation Section, Real Estate Section, Employment and Labor Law Section), Wyoming State Bar Association, American Bar Association (including Construction Law Forum, and Employment and Labor Law Section), Federal Bar Association (Idaho chapter), Idaho Association of Defense Counsel, and Portneuf Inn of Court (past president and executive committee member). He has published articles in THE ADVOCATE and Construction Publications, Inc. Born in 1956 in Lansing, Michigan, and raised in suburban Chicago, he is married with two adult children, three adult stepchildren, and six grandchildren. His interests include alpine and cross country skiing, tennis, biking, hiking, and travel. John R. Goodell earned his J.D. from Southern Illinois University College of Law in 1981 and his B.A. from Georgetown University in 1977.
