About Johnnie
Johnnie B. Byrd, Jr. attended Auburn University and earned a degree in Business Administration. He received his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law. He was admitted to the Florida and Alabama Bar Associations and has been actively practicing law with offices in Hillsborough County since 1988. His practice areas include business law and litigation, criminal defense, family law, probate and guardianship law, contested and uncontested divorce, and auto collision law. He was elected to the Florida House of Representatives, serving from 1996 to 2004, and served as Speaker of the House from 2002 to 2004. He is also the legislative founder of the Johnnie B. Byrd, Sr. Alzheimer’s Institute at the University of South Florida. Johnnie and his wife Melane are members of Palma Ceia Methodist Church in Tampa.
