Jon Ulz is a seasoned attorney with more than thirty years of experience representing clients in a wide range of civil litigation matters, including personal injury, wrongful death, fraud, premises liability, and intentional torts. He began practicing law in 1994 as an associate at a small firm, quickly earning a reputation for his legal research, writing, and courtroom skills. He later established a thriving solo practice, providing strategic litigation support to fellow attorneys and successfully handling complex cases from inception to resolution. In 2005, Jon joined the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal, where he served as Central Staff Attorney, Central Staff Supervisor for interlocutory writ applications, and Senior Law Clerk to several judges. This appellate experience sharpened his ability to analyze legal issues from every angle and craft winning strategies. In 2017, Jon and his family relocated to Southern California, where he continued to represent plaintiffs in high-stakes litigation, including products liability and other complex personal injury matters. His approach blends a deep understanding of the law with the ability to connect with clients, explain complex issues clearly, and advocate with both skill and empathy. Jon was born in Taylorville, Illinois, and raised in New Castle, Indiana. He earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Ball State University in 1989 and his master’s degree in history from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1991 before receiving his Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 1994. While in graduate school, he met his wife, Susan Leal, and together they have two sons, Max and Wesley. Outside the office, Jon enjoys traveling, spending time with family, and collecting vinyl records-pursuits that reflect his curiosity, appreciation for craftsmanship, and love of storytelling.
