About Lee

Lee Ann James joined Cherry Johnson Siegmund James PLLC in 2023 in an of-counsel role and also serves on the faculty at Baylor Law School. She taught legal writing as an adjunct professor at Baylor Law for three years prior to joining the legal writing department full-time in 2019. She teaches in the LARC program with a focus on litigation drafting. Lee Ann has subsequently also developed and teaches an upper-level elective course focused on advanced written discovery. From 2015-2020, she worked for the Office of the General Counsel at Baylor University on a contractual basis, serving in an external role for the Baylor University Title IX Office. Lee Ann earned her J.D. with honors from Baylor Law in 2002, where she served as an Executive Editor for the Baylor Law Review, was a member of multiple Trial Advocacy Teams, was a member of the Order of the Barristers, was named to the Dean’s List multiple times, and earned the Matt Dawson Advocacy Award. She also graduated as the second-highest-ranking student in her commencement class. Her early practice focused on medical malpractice defense, employment law, and general litigation. Lee Ann is actively involved in the community, having served as a board member for ShareFest Waco, Lorena Elementary PTA, Lorena ISD PAC, South Bosque Elementary PTA, and Midway High School PTA. She has served in the greater Waco area with her son through the Young Men’s Service League and her daughter through the National Charity League. She is also a recently published author with the release of “A Hope and A Future: 40 Weeks of Guided Prayers for Your High School Senior” in 2024. Lee Ann and her husband, Scott, a founding partner of CJSJ, are blessed with three children.
