About Magriet

Magriet is a senior solicitor with extensive experience in business law and wills and estates. She holds a Master’s Degree in Law from Osgoode Law School. Magriet is originally from South Africa and had a busy legal practice in Dawson Creek, BC for many years with her own law firm. She practices in the Vernon office of Martin Estate and Injury Law in the fields of estate planning, probate, intestacy and other aspects of estate administration, corporate law, and more. Magriet is an experienced lawyer with a strong background in Wills, Estates, Corporate, and Real Estate law. Born and raised in South Africa, she earned her LLB from the University of Pretoria and articled in Pretoria and Johannesburg before relocating to Canada in 2007. She later completed her LLM in Energy and Infrastructure at Osgoode, York University. After successfully completing her Canadian equivalency exams, Magriet moved to Dawson Creek in 2010 to article with a local firm. She practiced law in the South Peace region for 15 years, including 10 years running her own firm. She is an active member of the community, having served as chair of the South Peace Community Resource Society and as President of the Dawson Creek Rotary Club. Fluent in English and Afrikaans, she provides legal services in both languages. She is delighted to be in the Okanagan area, eager to connect with individuals, and intends to foster a strong sense of community through her work and volunteer activities.
