About Matthew

Matthew is a founding partner of Carden Dotzler Hammond, PLLC, and also serves as a municipal judge for the town of Camillus, New York. He concentrates his practice on criminal defense, DWI defense and traffic defense, along with a specialized focus on white collar and drug crime defense. He is actually the lead attorney for The New York Traffic Ticket Lawyers, which handles a variety of traffic infraction cases throughout Central New York. He regularly represents clients charged with criminal, DWI, and traffic offenses in Onondaga County Court, Syracuse City Court, and other courts throughout Central New York. Before entering private practice, Matthew served as an Assistant District Attorney with the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office for seven years. There, he successfully prosecuted hundreds of white collar felonies in the Economic Fraud and Financial Crimes Bureau, including embezzlement, forgery, identity theft, tax evasion, counterfeiting, and welfare fraud offenses, as well as a variety of misdemeanor and traffic-related offenses, including prosecuting drug and narcotics related offenses. At the District Attorney’s Office, Matthew spent countless hours in the courtroom honing his trial advocacy in complex criminal cases, working closely with local law enforcement, forensic auditors, and financial institutions. Matthew earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) and Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degrees from the State University of New York at Buffalo. His knowledge, training, and litigation experience provide him with the unique ability to zealously represent and advise his clients in a wide range of criminal defense and business related matters. Matthew is a member of the New York State Defenders Association, where he received a Trial Skills certification.
