Matthew Gartner joined The Gartner Law Firm at the firm's St. Peter’s, Missouri office in June of 2018 as an Associate. His practice will generally focus on Corporate Advice, and Corporate Bankruptcy representation, Workers Compensation, and General Civil Litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Matthew Gartner was an Associate with Husch Blackwell and practiced in the field of corporate bankruptcy and insolvency. Before that, he practiced law in the Chicago office of the international law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP (2006-2011). While there, Matthew Gartner practiced corporate bankruptcy law, representing large and mid-market corporate debtors, banks and private equity funds in all stages of the bankruptcy process and handling a wide variety of matters including litigation, distressed asset sales and financing arrangements. Matthew earned his Juris Doctor Degree from Washington University School of Law in 2006, where he received a CALI Excellence for the Future Award and was on the Dean's List. Before entering law school, Gartner received his B.A. from Saint Louis University (1996) and taught high school students at Rockhurst High School in Kansas City (1996-1997) and at DeSmet Jesuit High School (1997-2002). Matthew has represented clients dealing with financially distressed enterprises regarding commercial financial issues. He has represented all major constituencies in bankruptcy proceedings and non-bankruptcy restructurings, including senior secured lenders, mezzanine lenders, bondholders, real and personal property lessors, unsecured trade creditors, creditors’ and bondholders’ committees, debtors and asset purchasers, including unique experience representing clients in international insolvency proceedings, food and energy industry bankruptcy matters and insurance insolvencies.
