About Melanie

Melanie D. Fenwick Thompson is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. She received her Bachelor’s degree in International Relations with a minor in Dance from Bucknell University and graduated from the University of Baltimore, School of Law in 1999. She began her career as an Associate Lawyer with an Entertainment Law firm, gaining experience in trademarks, copyrights, and various entertainment-related agreements. In 2004, she opened Fenwick Thompson & Associates, expanding practice areas to include Family and Juvenile Law. Melanie is licensed to practice law in Georgia, the Supreme Court of Georgia, the United States District Court (Northern District of Georgia), and the United States Court of Appeals (11th Circuit). She is a member of the Entertainment and Family Law sections of the Georgia State Bar and has been trained as a Guardian Ad Litem. She represents clients in highly contested family law matters and focuses on reunification in juvenile law cases. From 2007, she served for five years facilitating and approving new attorneys for DeKalb County’s Juvenile Court Appointed Attorney List.
