About Mike

Mike Valen brings a lifetime of discipline, dedication, and advocacy to his role as a litigation attorney at Boohoff Law. The son of a military family, Mike grew up living all over the world, including three years in Tokyo, before settling in Florida. His diverse upbringing instilled in him a deep appreciation for different cultures and perspectives-an asset he carries into his legal practice. Mike earned his bachelor’s degree in German from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, spending a year as an exchange student at a German university. Following graduation, he was commissioned as a Naval Officer and attended Navy flight training, eventually flying the iconic F-14 Tomcat as part of Fighter Squadron 14 aboard the USS John F. Kennedy. Later, he served as a flight instructor, helping to train the next generation of naval aviators. His passion for advocacy led him to the University of Florida College of Law, where he built a strong foundation in litigation. He also spent a year at Florida State University College of Law on scholarship, where he was published in the FSU Law Review and worked as a legislative intern for the Florida House of Representatives Commerce Committee. Mike began his legal career representing injured workers in workers’ compensation cases before transitioning to plaintiff personal injury law-a field where he has spent the past 20 years fighting for justice. As a lead trial attorney, he has handled jury trials across Florida, bringing a strategic and relentless approach to litigation. His deep understanding of both the legal and insurance industries even sparks lively debates at family gatherings, as his oldest son works in insurance defense. Mike and his wife reside in Apollo Beach with their two cats. When he’s not in the courtroom, he enjoys biking, reading, and traveling. With his wealth of experience and commitment to client advocacy, Mike is a trusted ally for those seeking justice in Tampa Bay.
