Mikel conducts mediations and acts as an arbitrator. He brings to each assignment more than 40 years of civil jury trial and appellate experience. During his four decades in civil trial practice, Mikel most often represented insured and self-insured clients in civil defense jury trial and appellate matters. For example, he represented licensed professionals (primarily lawyers and law firms) in defense of liability claims, business clients in contract, personal injury and employment matters, ski areas and recreational providers in personal injury defense, and the State of Montana in defense of civil matters. Mikel tried an estimated 30 or more civil jury cases in state and federal courts in Montana, Wyoming and Arizona. He has briefed and argued an estimated 50 or more appeals in the Supreme Courts of Montana, Wyoming and Arizona, and in two federal Circuit Courts of Appeal (Ninth Circuit and Tenth Circuit).
