About Monica

Attorney Monica Wooten Yates joined her husband, Bradley Yates, in 2021 and is focusing her practice on personal injury and civil litigation. Specifically, Monica specializes in personal injury, premises liability, motor vehicle accidents, construction defects, and transactional disputes. As a Georgetown County native and a Socastee High School graduate, Monica loves serving the citizens of the community she has always called home. Monica earned her undergraduate degree from Wofford College, cum laude, in 2008, with a major in finance and a minor in art history, and her Juris Doctor degree from the Charleston School of Law in 2011. At CSOL, Monica received the Outstanding Pro Bono Legal Service Award and served on the as an associate editor and member of the Federal Courts Law Review, Moot Court Board, and Student Bar Association. After law school, Monica moved back to her hometown of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, to begin her legal career. Prior to joining The Yates Firm, LLC, Monica practiced insurance defense and complex civil litigation in Myrtle Beach, and also served several years as a General Sessions prosecutor for the Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office in Horry County, with a focus on major crimes as well as specializing in child abuse/neglect and sexual assault crimes. Monica was admitted to practice in all South Carolina courts and the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. In addition, Monica is Vice President of the Horry County Bar Association, and an active member of the South Carolina Bar Association, The Coastal American Inn of Court, Leadership Grand Strand (Class XXXV), and Junior League of the Grand Strand. Outside of the office, Monica spends time with her husband, their son, and their golden retriever in Conway. Monica also enjoys reading, traveling, cooking, camping, and fishing with her family.
