Stephen McGinnis graduated from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky in 1991 with a Bachelor's of Arts in Government and History. He graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1994. After receiving his education, Stephen moved back to Greenup and began practicing. He is admitted to practice in all courts of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the Eastern Federal District of Kentucky, the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals, all courts in the state of West Virginia and the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals. He is the President of the Greenup/Lewis County Bar Association and a member of the Boyd County Bar Association. Stephen donates significant time to his community. He is former Chairman of the Board of Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital Foundation. Stephen is now a Board member of Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. Stephen is honored to serve the Kentucky Bar Association as a member of the Bar Association Ethics Committee and as his regions Ethics “Hotline” representative. Stephen donates his legal services each year to Veterans and other needful individuals through a Pro Bono Program. He is a former Board member of Legal Aid of the Bluegrass. Stephen practices many areas of law, including debtor and creditor law, personal injury, domestic relations, appellate work, contracts, municipal law, estates, elder law, juvenile, criminal, repossessions and foreclosures, estate planning, wills and trusts, both in the state of Kentucky and the state of West Virginia. Stephen has represented individuals in domestic cases with marital estates in the millions of dollars and represents individuals involved in personal injury actions, death, serious personal injuries, amputations, and injuries of all other sorts and matters. He is also proud to represent Veterans who simply need help with their wills or other much more serious matters for free. He also handles all aspects of domestic cases from the largest to the smallest and all in between, including custody actions making sure to help his clients help their children in every possible way. Stephen was also recently proud to be asked to give a formal presentation on legal ethics for the continued and legal education of more than 150 fellow lawyers in Ashland, Kentucky.
