About Robert
Robert Vaughan graduated from law school in August of 2021 and joined Bailey, Javins & Carter, LC in Morgantown, focusing on workers’ compensation claims under the mentorship of Linda Garrett. With deep family roots in Nicholas and Mingo County, he has a strong appreciation for West Virginia's coal miners and hard-working individuals, driving his passion to help them navigate complex workers’ compensation systems. Robert pursued law later in life, starting law school at 36 after working as a teacher and earning a master’s degree in environmental policy and management. His journey was particularly challenging as his wife passed away during his last semester of law school. He considers graduating from law school and joining the firm his most significant achievement. He is inspired by cases where he can significantly impact clients' financial stability, such as securing an 18% whole-person impairment rating for a client, which opened doors for a civil claim. If not an attorney, he would have pursued a career as a wildlife biologist or land manager, reflecting his love for the outdoors. He advises aspiring attorneys to gain real-world experience early. Outside of work, he enjoys hunting, fishing, mountain biking, backpacking, camping, and spending time with his children, instilling in them a love for the outdoors. His children are his primary source of inspiration and motivation.
