About Robert

Robert Walter handles Social Security Disability claims and veterans’ disability claims for people in Ohio as a lawyer and partner at Horenstein, Nicholson & Blumenthal (HNB). Robert has expanded HNB’s efforts in appealing denials of disability benefits to higher levels, bringing more cases to federal court than at any other time in the firm’s more than 40-year history. His work on disability appeals has helped not only his clients, but workers needing disability benefits across the country, when he successfully argued a case before the US Court of Appeals 6th Circuit, Gayheart v. Commissioner, that expanded the rights of disability claimants with mental impairments to have their doctors’ opinions respected. With his extensive knowledge of the topic, he speaks to support groups and civic organizations about disability law. He became the youngest partner in HNB history in 2018. Even before joining HNB, Robert devoted his legal career to helping people in need, working two years for the legal aid office in Chillicothe, providing assistance to people with limited economic means. He was selected as a Rising Star for 2020-23 by Super Lawyers. The rating service said the distinction is for top-rated lawyers in specific practice areas. Robert rated among the highest Social Security Disability attorneys. Every day he upholds the values of our firm: “Helping me, that’s HNB.”
