Roger Leishman serves as Senior Counsel at Cowlitz Law Group, where he focuses on family law, appellate advocacy, and complex civil litigation. Roger’s credibility in the legal community is reinforced by his service as a Hearing Officer for the Washington State Bar Association, where he was entrusted to adjudicate attorney discipline and bar admission matters. Beyond his work in private practice, Roger has advised public institutions at the highest levels and navigated sophisticated disputes across a wide range of legal issues. This background provides him with an unusual depth of perspective that informs his work in family law litigation, where credibility, ethics, and strategic judgment are essential. A graduate of Yale Law School, where he served as Articles Editor of the Yale Journal of International Law, Roger earned his Juris Doctor after completing his undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University, where he graduated valedictorian, summa cum laude, with University Honors in English. His academic achievements reflect the intellectual rigor and clarity that continue to define his written and oral advocacy. Roger’s professional service extends well beyond the courtroom. He has served on the Washington State Bar Association Board of Governors, where he chaired both the Diversity Committee and the Hearing Officer Selection committees. He also chaired the Washington Initiative for Diversity from 2010 to 2015, leading statewide efforts to expand opportunities for underrepresented groups in the legal profession. His long-standing involvement with the ACLU of Washington included service on the Foundation and Endowment Board, the Executive Committee, and the Board of Directors, along with years of work as a cooperating attorney and speaker on constitutional rights. Locally, Roger contributes his time as a volunteer attorney with LAW Advocates’ StreetLaw and youth programs, providing legal assistance to vulnerable members of the community.
