About Ryan
Ryan D. McCarty joined Luebeck, Hammar, McCarty & Goldwarg (formerly Angel, Coil & Bartlett) in 2015 and became a partner in 2016. His practice has focused on criminal defense since joining the firm, and as of 2024, he has dedicated 16 years to practicing criminal law in Gallatin County and throughout Montana. He graduated from Montana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences in 1998 and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Montana School of Law in 2005. He worked as a Public Defender in Bozeman for 4 years, gaining extensive trial experience and receiving the Public Defender Excellence Award for Region 8 in 2009. He then prosecuted for the City of Bozeman for 3 years, acting as Chief Prosecutor before entering private practice. He is a devoted husband and father of three who enjoys fishing, tying flies, bird hunting, and travelling internationally.
