About Ryan

Ryan S. MacGillis is a partner and trial attorney at MacGillis Wiemer, LLC. He is dedicated to defending the legal rights of first responder unions and their members. He is licensed to practice law in all Wisconsin county circuit courts, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Wisconsin, the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin, and the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. Beyond his work at MacGillis Wiemer, LLC, Ryan is also an experienced public sector law practitioner. In his capacity as a Judge Advocate General (JAG) in the U.S. Army Reserve, Ryan has advised many military and federal civilian leaders. He has been in the Army since 2003 and has achieved the rank of Major. In 2021 he completed a yearlong mobilization to active duty with the famed 10th Mountain Light Infantry Division where he worked as a Special Victims’ Counsel advocating for the rights and interests of sexual assault victims through the military investigative and criminal processes. He currently works as a Deputy Team Chief for the 214th Legal Operations Detachment. For his achievements on behalf of his clients, Super Lawyers has continually named Ryan a Rising Star every year since 2013. During his free time, he volunteers with several organizations, including the Dry Hootch Volunteer Family Law Clinic. At Dry Hootch, Ryan provides general legal advice to veterans and their families. His skill and passion for what he does allow him to approach each case with unrelenting focus and individualized attention.
