About Sally

Ms. Butts excels at understanding each client’s unique situation-focusing on achieving the best outcomes, while applying sharp negotiating skills, creative solutions, and compassionate client service. Ms. Butts grew up in Lewiston, Idaho, and considers the Pacific Northwest her backyard. She spent many years of her professional career focused on natural resources, public lands, and serving the public - working in the private sector, with tribal governments, and for multiple federal agencies. Her background helping individuals with a wide range of interests, and collaborating with communities large and small, gives her a depth of experience that is helpful in the typical to the most unusual of legal issues. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Washington State University (1994), a Master of Science degree from Oregon State University (1998), and a Juris Doctor in Law from the University of Idaho (2010). After 8 years working in Washington, DC, Ms. Butts felt the call to return west and worked in Portland for 5 years before returning to the Inland Northwest. The opportunity to help clients to meet their legal needs attracted Ms. Butts to private practice with Baumgarten Law Offices PLLC. She volunteered with the Clark County (Washington) Volunteer Lawyer’s Program (legal aid) and is heartened by the chance to work with clients on Family Law matters and earn each client’s trust. Ms. Butts strives to ensure that each of her clients feel that they are well-represented and in good hands. Outside of work, Ms. Butts enjoys swimming, downhill skiing, kayaking, and most outdoor activities; playing flute and singing; spending time with her yellow lab dog and orange tabby cat; and most importantly being with family and friends.
