About Shannon
Shannon Crenshaw Rhoads brings more than a decade of litigation, corporate counsel, and risk management experience to Tawney, Acosta & Chaparro P.C., where she represents clients across Texas and New Mexico in complex personal injury matters. Licensed in both states and admitted to the United District Courts of the Western District of Texas, Northern District of Texas and District of New Mexico, she is known for her strategic thinking, meticulous preparation, and results-driven advocacy in high-stakes disputes. Her broad legal background, which spans corporate risk management, trial advocacy, and high-level contract negotiation, gives Shannon a unique perspective in personal injury litigation. Before joining our firm, Shannon served as Senior Assistant General Counsel for Helen of Troy, a global consumer products company headquartered in El Paso. There, she managed complex, worldwide litigation - spanning product liability, employment law, consumer protection, and contract disputes - while developing strategies to reduce risk and protect the company’s interests. Under her direction, the company secured defense verdicts in two multi-million-dollar commercial arbitrations, and obtained policy limits in a significant natural disaster insurance claim. Her work also included advising the global HR team on compliance with employment laws, guiding insurance renewals, managing a captive insurance program, negotiating major licensing agreements, and reviewing marketing claims, packaging, and contracts. Earlier in her career, Shannon gained extensive litigation experience across a wide range of matters, including commercial disputes, personal injury claims, landlord-tenant issues, and professional malpractice cases. She managed cases from inception through resolution: developing and executing trial strategy, drafting pleadings and motions, conducting discovery, and serving as both first and second chair in jury trials, bench trials, and arbitrations. Her leadership extends beyond the courtroom. Shannon was selected as one of only 20 Texas lawyers to participate in the prestigious LeadershipSBOT program through the State Bar of Texas. She was appointed to the Texas State Bar Court Rules Committee, serving as both an advisory and voting member, and elected to the Board of Directors of the El Paso Young Lawyers Association. Shannon has also been invited to speak at continuing legal education programs, including presentations on trial preparation and landlord-tenant law updates for professional audiences. Committed to the community, Shannon was recently appointed to the Board of Directors for Girls on the Run El Paso. She has previously served on the Board of Directors for the Humane Society of El Paso, the board for the El Paso Center for Children, and the board for the El Paso Public Library Foundation. She continues to be involved in causes that strengthen and protect vulnerable populations.
