About Timothy

Tim Sullivan’s practice focuses on assisting Upton & Hatfield’s municipal clients. Tim brings over a decade of litigation experience, having spent the last eleven years as a prosecutor. He also brings extensive experience with issues that municipalities face when employees are subject to disciplinary action and when handling Right to Know requests. Through his career Tim has tried approximately fifty jury trials as lead counsel. Prior to joining Upton & Hatfield, Tim worked at the New Hampshire Office of the Attorney General in the Criminal Bureau as a Senior Assistant Attorney General. In 2020, he was appointed to serve as the Chief of the Public Integrity Unit. In that capacity, Tim reviewed, investigated, and prosecuted allegations of criminal conduct by state officials and law enforcement. Tim was also appointed as lead counsel to investigate and prosecute historical allegations of physical and sexual abuse arising out of juvenile detention facilities in New Hampshire. Tim is originally from Kingston, New Hampshire, and graduated with a B.A. in political science from Quinnipiac University in 2005. He graduated from Roger Williams School of Law in Bristol, Rhode Island in 2008. Tim began his legal career at a law firm in Chelmsford, Massachusetts where he represented individuals, municipalities, and businesses. In 2011, he joined the Strafford County Attorney’s Office in Dover, New Hampshire where he prosecuted domestic violence related crimes. In 2017, Tim was appointed as Deputy County Attorney and shifted his focus to prosecuting serious felonies until he joined the Department of Justice in 2019. Tim is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and New Hampshire in both state and federal courts.
