As an accomplished litigator, strategic advisor, and one of Wyoming’s most respected attorneys, Tyler represents clients through their most complex legal and business challenges. Whether the case involves highly intellectual appellate issues or strategic decisions in the trenches of trial, clients turn to Tyler for his ability to advance and defend their interests in complicated circumstances. Indeed, having previously worked at one of the largest and most prestigious national law firms in the United States, Tyler brings a unique skill set to Wyoming that is unmatched and contributes to Hathaway & Kunz being one of the largest and most prestigious Wyoming law firms. Tyler’s appellate practice, for instance, provides focused representation before courts that will be making the final decision in a case. His command of appeals, especially before the Wyoming Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, is consistently sought by his clients as well as other attorneys seeking to team-up with skilled appellate counsel. Tyler served as a staff attorney to Justice Michael K. Davis and Justice Barton R. Voigt of the Wyoming Supreme Court for four years, drafting over fifty opinions during his tenure. Before that, he served as a law clerk to Judge Terrence L. O’Brien of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Tyler’s publication on appeals is regularly relied upon in Wyoming Supreme Court opinions and cited throughout the Wyoming Rules of Appellate Procedure. Tyler leads the firm’s Appellate Practice and co-leads the firm’s General Litigation Practice, both of which provide high-level approaches to clients’ most complex challenges. Tyler also serves as Special Bar Counsel to the Wyoming State Bar, whereby he is tasked with investigating and prosecuting other Wyoming attorneys who may have violated the Rules of Professional Conduct for Attorneys at Law. He is also the Wyoming Chairperson for the ABA Council of Appellate Lawyers. Tyler has also been an adjunct law professor and legal scholar. He was a professor of legal writing at the University of Wyoming College of Law, a testament to his intellect as well as his ability to fuel the forward thinking of next generation legal minds. He was also a Pegasus Scholar, being one of two attorneys selected each year for a Fellowship in the United Kingdom to study the English legal system. Considering his accomplishments, Tyler has been recognized by Super Lawyers Magazine as a premier Wyoming attorney.
