Our client was driving on S.R. 33 in Lakeland and was killed by a driver under the influence of an illegal substance. The mother and Personal Representative of the Estate of Our Client brought a civil action against the defendant. The plaintiff contended that the defendant was under the influence of methamphetamine when he crossed the centerline and collided head-on with our client, causing his death. After a two-day civil trial, the jury found in favor of the family of our client and awarded the family $7.25 million for compensatory and punitive damages.
