Oakland jury awarded punitive damages to two clients who alleged Monsanto’s Roundup weedkiller product caused their cancer (non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma) due to regular use. Jury ruled Monsanto's product caused cancer and failed to warn consumers.

Awarded to Alva Pilliod and Alberta Pilliod. $1 billion each in punitive damages, plus nearly $60 million for economic and noneconomic damages. Alberta diagnosed with malignant brain tumor. Monsanto appealed. Third Roundup lawsuit Monsanto lost in less than 12 months. Roundup based on glyphosate, 'likely carcinogenic'.
