Murphy, Falcon & Murphy represented a group of homeowners whose water supplies had been negatively affected by high levels of nitrates being released into their water supply, contaminating the water and negatively impacting property values. At risk were the residents’ exposure to health problems, as well as decreased property values as a result of the contamination. Murphy, Falcon & Murphy assisted residents in resolving the case without ever filing suit. Homeowners were offered a water filtration system, free connections to public water, payment of future water bills, bottled water, cash payouts and closure of the polluting facility. Homeowners were also offered the option to sell their homes for the fair market value prior to the water contamination.
