A 64-year-old woman died following a routine ovarian cystectomy due to a pierced bowel during surgery and mishandled post-op complaints, resulting in a settlement.
Additional Notes
Settled in January 2016. Jurors after the case settled related that while they felt the doctor performed the surgery according to proper procedure, they believed the doctor should have informed the patient and her husband to come to the ER more quickly after she started belching following her surgery.
