A Connecticut woman mauled in a 2009 chimpanzee attack settled her personal injury lawsuit against the estate of the chimp’s owner. The woman was blinded and severely disfigured, losing both hands and later receiving a full face transplant. The lawsuit alleged the owner knew the animal was dangerous and failed to secure it, and may have given it medication that made it more violent. The chimp had a history of biting and escaping.
