Purdue Pharma, makers of OxyContin, reached a settlement with the US Department of Justice and pleaded guilty to criminal charges for their role in the opioid crisis.

Settlement includes $225 million to US Justice Department, $1.7 billion for other lawsuits, $3.54 billion criminal fine, and $2.8 billion civil penalty (competing with bankruptcy claims). Sackler family paid an additional $225 million. Funds are not directly earmarked for individual victims.
