Settlement for Andrew Lefko, a 19-year-old construction worker who was paralyzed after being struck by a drunk driver while moving traffic barrels in a construction zone on I-275 in Metro Detroit. This case was instrumental in the creation of 'Andy's Law' (Public Act 103), which increased penalties for injuring or killing highway construction or maintenance workers.
Additional Notes
The settlement was awarded in 2001. Andrew Lefko tragically passed away in August 2018 at age 39.
