The court found that UNUM Life Insurance Company of America wrongfully terminated Carianne DeRoo's long-term disability (LTD) benefits. The plaintiff was entitled to LTD benefits as she was unable to perform duties of any gainful occupation due to sickness or injury, and the termination was contrary to policy.
