Case Details

Plaintiff Harold Stewart was injured after falling on a dilapidated sidewalk abutting a vacant lot owned by Jay-Nan Corporation. The New Jersey Supreme Court overruled the old rule of non-liability, establishing that commercial property owners are responsible for maintaining sidewalks in reasonably good condition and are liable for injuries caused by negligent failure to do so.
