The case involved negligent medical care during her admission to a Philadelphia hospital and subsequent care at a nursing home, leading to spinal cord compromise, failure to diagnose thoracic osteomyelitis, and eventual partial paralysis of her legs. The doctors failed to recognize significant changes in her condition, properly examine her, have her evaluated by specialists, or order indicated diagnostic studies.
