Case Details
Settlement for an infant who suffered a severe brain injury and multi-organ injuries due to the negligence of a midwife. During pregnancy, the mother became high-risk labor and delivery. Nevertheless, the midwife caring for her prenatally did not consult with an obstetrician to manage the care of the mother’s pregnancy. During the labor and delivery process, the mother and infant demonstrated signs of maternal stress and fetal distress. Again, the midwife failed to seek the assistance of an obstetrician despite the presence of obstetricians at the hospital. The infant was born pulseless, although she was resuscitated. Due to the compression of the infant’s umbilical cord during labor and delivery, the infant was deprived of oxygen ultimately causing her injuries.
