Case Details

A worker suffered quadriplegia due to a motor vehicle collision in 2016 while riding as a passenger in a box truck for his employer. The truck driver fell asleep, causing an initial collision, and then a tractor-trailer crashed into the disabled box truck. The worker sustained severe cervical spinal column fractures and spinal cord injury.

Structured settlement approved in 2018 by Workers Compensation Commissioner. Third-party liability cases against the two drivers were settled for policy limits. Structured settlement includes up-front payment and monthly payments for life, plus Medicare Set-aside plan for 21 years. Future payments guaranteed for 30 years.
