Case Details
Wisconsin Supreme Court ruling may allow victims of car accidents to obtain additional compensation under their insurance policies if damages exceed the maximum amount rental car companies are required to pay. This stems from a 2007 incident where an uninsured motorist in an Avis rental car killed a victim. The rental car company paid $50,000, but the victim's family sought more from her own policy.
Additional Notes
The court ruled that the laws surrounding this case were conflicting because it is unclear whether or not a self-insured company should be excluded from an uninsured motorist policy.
