Case Details
A federal jury awarded Ed Hardeman $80 million in damages against Monsanto, manufacturer of Roundup weed killer. Hardeman developed non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma from regular use of the product, claiming Monsanto knew glyphosate was carcinogenic but failed to warn consumers. The award included $5 million in compensatory and $75 million in punitive damages.
Additional Notes
Bayer, Monsanto's parent company, plans to appeal. Another Roundup lawsuit in California previously resulted in a nearly $290 million award, later reduced to $78 million.
