Auto Accident
Our clients, a husband and wife in their late sixties, were injured after a wheel came off of a driver’s pickup truck, after it had been negligently installed by a national tire company. The driver of the truck failed to remove his truck from the roadway or to turn on his hazard light. Our client, the following driver, had no notice that the truck was not moving with the speed of traffic and hit the back of the truck at nearly 70 mph. Substantial and lift-threatening injuries resulted from this crash, leaving permanent injuries requiring future surgery.

Auto Accident
Our client, a woman in her mid-thirties, was permanently injured when her car hit a dead horse left lying in a road on a dark and stormy night in Jefferson County. The defendant driver, an employee of a utility company, previously hit the horse and then knowingly left it in the road for the next driver to encounter.

Wrongful Death
An 11 year old boy had participated in a church summer camp when the adult supervisors took the children to a dangerous sand bar area along a river in Oregon to play on a hot day. Life jackets were available for the children to wear, but the supervisors failed to ensure they were worn. Both the location of the sandbar and the lack of life jackets led to the drowning death of the boy when the edge of the sandbar gave way. The insurer for the church attempted to limit compensation for the tragic loss by telling the family that Oregon law applied because a wrongful death cap is in place in Oregon, but not in Washington. They were not being truthful because Washington law applied in this scenario. Attorneys William McGonagle and Colleen Mriglot fought hard to hold the wrongdoers accountable and showed that Washington law applied.
$704,000
Auto Accident
A personal trainer was rear ended and suffered a neck, shoulder, and back injury. She could no longer work at her job and required surgery to her shoulder and neck. The defense offered $200,000 before trial.
$665,000
Bicycle Accident
Our client was an experienced bicyclist in her late 60s. She rode her bike downhill on a Bainbridge Island road and unbeknownst to her, near the bottom of the hill, was a newly installed water berm. The berm had recently been installed by the City of Bainbridge Island. Its design and construction was negligent because it did not conform to appropriate construction codes, nor did it have sufficient warning of its placement. Our client struck the berm and went flying - crashing violently into the pavement face first. She suffered a traumatic brain injury (with loss of consciousness), facial fractures, multiple fractures to her left hand/arm, and other soft tissue injuries. Following the injury she endured multiple surgeries, tissue infections, and permanent facial disfigurement and chronic pain.

Trucking Accident
In a recent trucking case our office handled, we were provided with a video reenactment of a collision by the defendant, a large trucking corporation, in which they depicted the tractor-trailer pulling out in front of our client’s car. (In the actual case the tractor-trailer pulled out in front of our client, who had the right-of-way, causing serious injuries, including traumatic brain injury, fractures, and significant internal wounds.) The defendant’s video evidence for use at trial contained a hidden “phantom vehicle” that could only be seen in very slow motion with short increments of film slices. This would have been deceptive if shown to the jury because the phantom car was used to add extra lighting for the reenactment, making the defendant appear less culpable. Attorney Christian Ray painstakingly, and cleverly, dissected the video to uncover the truth.
