Thomas C. Newlin
Thomas C. Newlin was born and raised in Terre Haute, Indiana. He graduated from Schulte High School in 1967 and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Indiana State University in 1971. He obtained his M.B.A. from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business in 1973, and then joined family-owned Newlin-Johnson Company, Inc. In 1986, he graduated with honors from the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis. Since 1986, Tom has devoted his professional career to personal injury, Social Security Disability, real estate, and probate law. His motto is, “Provide client-first service with integrity and always treat everyone with respect and dignity.” He is one of the managing partners at Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin and is a member of several professional organizations, including the Terre Haute Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the National Association of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives. Tom is licensed to practice in all courts in the State of Indiana, all Federal Courts in the State of Indiana, and the United States Court of Appeals, 7th Circuit. Steve Fleschner
Born and raised in Terre Haute, Indiana, Steve Fleschner grew up surrounded by hard-working people who shaped his values and sense of purpose. The son of a coal miner and the grandson of farmers, Steve learned early on the importance of perseverance, integrity, and lending a hand to others. Many of his relatives worked in factories or drove trucks, and their work ethic left a lasting impression on him. That background instilled in Steve a lifelong respect for working families and a deep commitment to standing up for their rights. Guided by those values, Steve helped found Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin in 1988 in his hometown of Terre Haute. His goal was simple but powerful-to create a law firm that gives a strong voice to everyday people and helps them find justice during some of life’s most difficult moments. Steve earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana State University in 1971. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Washburn University School of Law, graduating with honors, and later received a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Throughout his career, Steve has remained active in the legal community as a member of the American Bar Association, Terre Haute Bar Association, and Indiana State Bar Association. He is also involved with the American Association for Justice, the American Trial Lawyers Association, and the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association. Steve’s dedication to his clients and his profession has earned him numerous honors, including recognition in multiple editions of Best Lawyers in America and listings among America’s Top Lawyers. He has been named to the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the American Trial Lawyers Association and selected for inclusion in Indiana Super Lawyers. Anthony A. Tanoos
A lifelong resident of Terre Haute, Indiana, Anthony graduated in 1974 from Terre Haute South High School. From 1973 to 1978, Anthony wrote for the Terre Haute Tribune-Star. He attended Indiana State University and graduated cum laude with a B.S. in economics before entering law school at Indiana University’s Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis. Anthony earned his Juris Doctor in 1981 and returned to Terre Haute to practice law. Anthony focuses his practice on Social Security Disability cases, and he tries around 300 Social Security cases in an average year. Anthony also handles numerous personal injury cases each year and has secured favorable settlements for many of the injured victims he represents. Anthony is a member of the American Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association, and the Vigo County/Terre Haute City Bar Association. Caleb Fleschner
Caleb S. Fleschner is an attorney at Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin, where he focuses his practice on personal injury law. Admitted to practice in the state of Indiana and the U.S. District Court for both the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, Caleb has earned a reputation for his dedication to his clients and his deep commitment to the community he calls home. Although born in Fort Knox, Kentucky, Caleb grew up locally in Indiana, surrounded by family and friends who instilled in him strong values of discipline, integrity, and service-principles that continue to guide his legal career. He graduated from Indiana State University in 2012 and earned his law degree from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2016. Caleb’s connection to the law runs deep. He began his journey at Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin in 2010 as a medical records analyst, then became a fee specialist in 2011. While attending law school, he returned as a law clerk, gaining hands-on experience across mass tort, personal injury, family law, and Social Security cases. These early experiences laid the foundation for his thoughtful and client-focused approach to practicing law today. Beyond the courtroom, Caleb is passionate about giving back to the community where he was raised. He serves on the boards of Terre Haute Catholic Charities, Reach Services, and the Terre Haute Children’s Museum. He is also the current President of the Terre Haute Bar Association and volunteers as a Teen Court Judge, work that earned him the CASY Teen Court Volunteer of the Year award. Katie Fleschner McMullen
A lifelong resident of Terre Haute, Indiana, Katie Fleschner McMullen is proud to continue her family’s legacy of service and dedication to the community. As the daughter of attorney Steve Fleschner, she grew up seeing firsthand the importance of standing up for others and helping people during difficult times-values that continue to guide her both personally and professionally. Katie attended Hanover College, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Business. A talented student-athlete, she played on the Hanover tennis team and was honored by the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference as Freshman of the Year, Most Valuable Player, and a First-Team All-Conference selection. She graduated cum laude in 2009. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor degree magna cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law in 2014. During law school, Katie served as a teacher’s assistant for an Intellectual Property Perspectives writing course, worked as the Assistant Senior Notes Editor for the Michigan State Law Review, and served as Vice President of the Intellectual Property Law Society. Katie’s relationship with Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin began long before she became an attorney. She first joined the firm in 2005 as a personal injury case assistant and later worked as a receptionist, Social Security Disability case analyst and brief writer, and mass tort case analyst. These early experiences gave her a deep understanding of the firm’s mission and the clients it serves. Since joining the firm as an attorney in 2014, Katie has focused her practice on personal injury law. She is passionate about helping clients through life-changing challenges and takes great pride in providing compassionate, thorough, and trustworthy representation.
